Cooking White Rice

Once i brought back this wonderful machine and placed it in a prime position on my kitchen counter top, my first mission was to figure out how to use it.

So being chinese, eating rice was the top priority. So i set about following the instructions in the Malaysian Cookbook. Followed the instructions to the T and I see the water bubbling over the measuring cup, so a call to my very nice manager solved this issue . So here is the recipe for cooking white rice.

Due to the capacity restrictions of the simmering basket, the Thermomix can cook upto 4 cups of the MC.

1. Place 2 MC cups (for 2 people) of white rice in the simmering basket .
2. Wash the rice either with Thermomix or in the sink.
3. Insert simmering basket in the Thermomix and add enough water to just cover the rice.
4. Set time for 15 mins, Temperature: 100C, Speed 4

Speed has to be 4 to ensure that the rice is cooked through. If not the top part of the rice may not be cooked.

The rice came out fluffy and so yummy . It was not sticky like when you cook it in a rice cooker. For young children drinking the white rice water is good. For adults, not so good.

If you are using Brown Rice, the rice water you can add some seaweed and miso and make a simple soup. For brown rice you need to cook for 20 mins so i have been told . I love to eat white rice. Brown Rice not so but i heard it is good for you .Hehe
